An Oldie But a Goodie...

This one came up in conversation yesterday, and I can't believe I almost forgot about it.

This is actually quite priceless and one of my all time favourites...

So a few months ago I was at an event and my sister's friend introduced me to her friend. He looked and me and said: "Hmm, you're Egyptian, huh"

And I of course said "Yes, why so surprised?"

His response, are you ready for it, it's the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard!

"Well, most Egyptian girls are ugly." Point blank just like that, and he had no idea how stupid he just sounded.

Excuse me what??? Was that some sort of backhanded compliment??? And did you just call my mother ugly???

Oh and then he said "I am allowed to say that because I am Egyptian as well."

Let me tell you, I was just in Egypt a few summers ago for four months and I saw and met so many beautiful women it would make anyone's head spin.

How did I not start this blog before??

Welcome to the first post of "Things That Shouldn't Happen But Do." I think the idea of this blog entered my mind awhile ago, but in various forms. Monday was the day that made me think, I HAVE to start posting some of this stuff...

What happened on Monday you are wondering? Well let me indulge you...

So, Monday early evening, say about 5 p.m., I jumped on my bike to head to my corner store to pick up some tampons, yes tampons, nothing very fun.

As I am quietly standing behind another lady waiting to pay for my tampons, a guy comes in and taps me on the shoulder and says:

"Hello, I saw you riding your bike and I want to know you."

"Uh, what?" was my response. In my head was Am I really getting hit on buying tampons?? Where is the camera?? Who set this up??

But no, he proceeded, even after I told him I had a boyfriend, he responded with:

"If not now, later." The lady in front of me, just put her head down and started quietly laughing, and rightly so.
